Tourism development today makes all circles of society eager to fulfil their diverse needs and desires. One of them is looking for a tourist or recreational experience. Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world and has excellent potential as a world tourist destination. Meanwhile, Indonesia itself has five large islands, including Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua, and Indonesia has 6 of the 10 most beautiful and best coral reef ecosystems in the world, where most of Indonesia’s territory is a coastal area with excellent marine tourism. Coastal areas have strategic significance because they stretch out between terrestrial and marine ecosystems and have the potential for wealth in natural resources and environmental services, thus attracting various parties to utilise them.

It is proven in South Sulawesi that the increase in tourist visits in 2023 is based on several positive programs the South Sulawesi government has carried out. Data on tourist visits until November 2023 was 3,252,928 people. They comprised 8,827 foreign tourists and 3,244,101 domestic or archipelago tourists.
Tourism development in South Sulawesi has become essential to enhancing economic growth. South Sulawesi has many tourist attractions in all regencies, including nature, culture, and traditions. Those attractions need to be communicated in to increase the tourist visits in this area. Therefore, branding image is an important element in promoting the uniqueness of destinations. In addition to that, language has an important role in enhancing the promotion of the destinations. Furthermore, when communicating tourist attractions to international society, the English language aspect works well as a discursive tool for tourism (Salim & Som, 2018).
