Institute of Tourism Co-Organize, Supports and Partner the National Conference for the Development of Domestic Tourism and the International Forum on Tourism Skills.
The Institute of Tourism Moldova is pleased to support the National Conference for the Development of Domestic Tourism in the Republic of Moldova and the International Forum on Tourism Skills in the context of the Pact for Skills, which will take place on 26 May 2026 in Chișinău, at the Technical University of Moldova.
The event is organised by the National Tourism Platform and APIT, in partnership with the Institute of Tourism, Pact for Skills Tourism LSP and PacTS4ALL.
The Conference and Forum will bring together public authorities, tourism and HORECA businesses, academia, local destinations, professional organisations, development partners and European stakeholders to discuss the future of tourism in Moldova.
The event will focus on the development of domestic tourism, tourism skills, professional standards, service quality, HORECA competitiveness, regional development and Moldova’s alignment with European initiatives in the field of tourism and skills.
For the Institute of Tourism Moldova, this event represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation between education, business, public institutions and international partners. The Institute considers tourism not only as a sector of promotion, but as a strategic economic field connected to skills, employment, regional development, competitiveness, innovation and European cooperation.
The role of the Institute of Tourism Moldova
The Institute of Tourism Moldova aims to contribute to the professionalisation and modernisation of the tourism sector in the Republic of Moldova by supporting training, research, capacity building, professional standards and international cooperation.
Its role is to connect tourism professionals, education providers, public authorities and business representatives in order to develop practical solutions for the sector and to support Moldova’s integration into European tourism and skills initiatives.
Main activities planned by the Institute of Tourism Moldova
In the coming years, the Institute of Tourism Moldova intends to focus on the following areas:
development of modern training programmes for tourism, HORECA and destination management;
cooperation with universities, colleges, VET institutions and private companies;
promotion of professional standards and quality services in tourism and hospitality;
support for domestic and regional tourism development;
research, analysis and knowledge-sharing for tourism policy and business development;
development of training modules on digital, green, social and entrepreneurial skills;
support for tourism SMEs, local destinations and professional communities;
promotion of accessible, inclusive and sustainable tourism;
organisation of conferences, workshops, expert meetings and professional training activities;
cooperation with European tourism and skills networks, including the Pact for Skills ecosystem.
Strategic objectives for the coming years
The main objective of the Institute of Tourism Moldova is to become a professional knowledge, training and cooperation platform for the tourism sector in the Republic of Moldova.
For the coming years, the Institute aims to:
1. support the development of a modern tourism skills agenda in Moldova;
2. contribute to the creation of a stronger link between education and the real needs of the tourism and HORECA market;
3. promote professionalisation, service quality and international standards in the tourism sector;
4. support the development of domestic tourism as a strategic economic direction;
5. contribute to the future Regional Tourism Skills Partnership in Moldova, in line with the Pact for Skills framework;
6. strengthen cooperation between Moldova and European tourism stakeholders;
7. help position Moldova as a more competitive, skilled and sustainable tourism destination.
The Institute of Tourism Moldova believes that the future of tourism depends on people, skills, quality, cooperation and innovation. For this reason, the Conference of 26 May 2026 is an important milestone for building a stronger and more European-oriented tourism ecosystem in the Republic of Moldova.
