Who is Sandra Sgoutas-Emch ?
Professor Sandra Sgoutas-Emch, Ph.D. is a of behavioral neuroscience and health psychology at the University of San Diego (USD). She also is an affiliated faculty in Women and Gender Studies and Ethnic Studies.
Over three decades in higher education, Sandra has taught courses on the intersections of wellbeing and psychosocial factors. Courses include the Psychology of Stress, Positive Psychology and Health Psychology. Her research focuses on the role of factors such as spirituality, faith and stress on health and well-being. Sandra has been the recipient of many awards including Carnegie Fellow for Political and Community Engagement, Excellence in Experiential Education and Woman of Impact Award.
Currently, Sandra is serving as a consultant for the American Council for Education on Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement and is a senior faculty advisor for the Mulvaney Center for Community Awareness and Social Action at USD.
