Dr. Avinash Chandra Joshi is a seasoned professional with nearly four decades of experience in the Indian power sector, particularly in improving processes, strategic HR, and human capital development. He most recently served as NTPC Chair Professor at the Centre for Public Policy, Doon University, Dehradun. Dr. Joshi holds a Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee and a postgraduate degree in Modern Indian History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

His career includes key leadership roles such as Director at ISTD (2019–2022), Director (HR) at UJVN Ltd. (2015–2019), and senior HR roles at THDC India Ltd., SJVN Ltd., and NTPC Ltd., where he began his professional journey in 1984.
