Debra-Jane Nelson is an accomplished, award-winning creative entrepreneur, educator, and social impact
advocate. She is the founder and managing director of Think Mahogany Events, one of Ghana’s premier event
production companies, established in March 2010. With a passion for excellence, Debra-Jane has built a
distinguished portfolio of products and services that consistently exceed client expectations, offering unparalleled
quality, innovation, and value.
A recognised trendsetter and visionary leader, Debra-Jane brings creativity, precision, and integrity to every
project. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and ability to design memorable, classy and timeless
events. Through Think Mahogany Events, she has successfully executed over 1,000 events, ranging from public
outreach initiatives, large-scale political rallies and gatherings, community engagement activities, corporate
conferences to weddings, funerals and charity fundraisers, both in Ghana and internationally.
Her experience includes consulting for corporate clients and high-profile figures, including H.E. Jerry John
Rawlings (Former President of Ghana), National Democratic Congress (Political Party Of Current President of
Ghana H.E. John Dramani Mahama), H. E. Kamala Harris (Former Vice President of the United States Of America)
and other notable political and influential figures. Debra-Jane has also worked in administrative and executive
support roles at Milton Keynes Council UK, The Open University Uk, Kodak Dental Systems UK, Medlab Ghana and
Ericsson Ghana, before establishing herself as an entrepreneur, social impact advocate and educator.
An educator at heart, Debra-Jane has trained over 600 event professionals through the Events Masterclass Ghana
Training Programme and the Ghana Events industry Academy. Her commitment to nurturing talent extends
beyond her company, and she continues to inspire the next generation of leaders in the events and social impact
sectors.
She is a Coventry University International Alumni Ambassador and President for Ghana. She is also a Board
Executive of the St. Roses Senior High School Global Alumni as head of Publicity . She also served as an Ashesi
University Capstone Project advisor.
Debra-Jane serves her nation, Ghana on the board of the Youth Employment Agency under the Ministry of Youth
Development and Empowerment. She is also the founder of Zero Hunger Ghana, a non-partisan, non-profit
organisation focused on combating hunger by providing sustainable safe and nutritious food to vulnerable
communities in Ghana. She is also the co-curator of Jollof Rave, an annual open-air event celebrating Ghana’s
famous Jollof rice, where she gives free meals to the vulnerable under her Zero Hunger Ghana initiative with the
official mascot Mama Jollof.
She is a sought-after speaker and trainer, having spoken at events like Social Media Week Accra and the African
Global Events Industry Summit. She has appeared on various media platforms, including GH One TV, TV3, JOY FM,
Y107.9 FM and GTV, where she shares her expertise on Entrepreneurship and Social Impact. Her influence have
been recognised in numerous publications, including BBC Smart Money, Glitz Africa, and A Day In The World,
which was endorsed by the famous Desmond Tutu. She has also contributed to several editions of Glitz Magazine,
Dream Wedding Magazine, a GUBA Publication and the Black Moon Book.
A passionate educator, Debra-Jane hosts Impact Your World With Debra-Jane , a weekly Instagram live show, and
has interviewed influential figures in politics, government, business, education, faith and entertainment. With
over 199 episodes aired between April 2020 to date, her platform focuses on imparting knowledge and impacting
lives.
