Manabu Komura is an associate professor of School of International Studies at Utsunomiya University in Japan. He received a Ph.D. in Human Sciences (Osaka University, Japan). He is interested in relations between global values (nature conservation, world natural heritage etc.) and local values in daily life of local societies. His study regions are remote islands and world natural heritage sites (Minami Daito island, Ogasawara islands, Iriomote island, and Shiretoko in Japan).
