Who is Daniel Scott ?
Dr. Daniel Scott is a Professor and Research Chair in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo (Canada).
He is also a Vice Chancellor Research Fellow in the School of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of Surrey (United Kingdom). Daniel has published over 200 journal papers and reports on sustainable tourism, with a focus on the transition to a low carbon tourism economy and adaptation to the complex impacts of a changing climate.
He has advised and led projects for a wide range of government agencies and tourism organizations around the world, including the United Nations World Tourism Organization, United Nations Environment Programme, World Meteorological Organization, International Olympic Committee, World Bank, OECD, the European Tourism Commission, and Caribbean Tourism Organization. He has also been a contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Third, Fourth, and Fifth Assessments as well as the 1.5°C special report. In 2021, he was ranked in the world top 300 climate scientists by Reuters.
His tourism research publications have been downloaded over a half million times and have been featured in many leading media outlets.
