Who is Jasmine Lal Fakmawi?
Ms. Jasmine Lal Fakmawi is the regional Trade and Investment Program Coordinator at Mekong Institute where she recently completed case studies on Women in Trade in Cambodia and Vietnam. Currently, she is managing the “Sustainable and Smart Tourism Development in Mekong Region” project, which involves working closely with local businesses and relevant government stakeholders in the five Mekong countries.
Prior to this, Jasmine delivered gender-responsive business training to women entrepreneurs and loan officers of Commercial Banks in Myanmar as part of the “Gender Transformative Enterprises for Accelerating Socio-economic Resilience and Recovery in Myanmar” program, jointly implemented by UNDP, UNCDF, and UN Women under the Multi-partner Trust Fund.
Jasmine has previously worked for several development agencies, including Mekong Economics, UNCDF, UNOPS, and ADRA in Myanmar. Her work focused on gender-related action research for development programs such as “Capitalization of Women’s Village Savings and Loans Associations,” “Labour Market Research for conflict-affected Women and Girls,” “Gender-sensitive Value Chain Analysis (GSVCA),” “Women’s Economic and Financial Inclusion,” and “Women’s and Girls’ Digital Financial Literacy Empowerment,” among others.
Jasmine holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration. Her dedication to promoting gender equality and inclusive private sector development reflects her commitment to creating a more equitable and sustainable world.
