Renner is a professor at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará in Brasil and at the Universidade da Coruña UDC in Spain. He earned a doctoral degree in Tourism Planning from the Universidade da Coruña, Spain. He conducted a post-doc as principal investigator of the project “Innovation in community tourism networks and their contribution towards regional development,” and was the leader of the research group: Turismo, Economia e Sustentabilidade. His research interests are centered on the socio-economic impacts of tourism: i.e., the economics of sustainable tourism; Turism, local development and sustainability; Tourism and social responsibility; Communication and image of tourism destinations; Gender studies in tourism; Heritage tourism.
