Professor Bet El Lagarense is Indonesia’s first-ever Professor in Tourism and the first Professor appointed across all Polytechnics in Indonesia.

She currently serves as a senior lecturer at Manado State Polytechnic, within the Global Tourism Management Study Program, where she leads transformative education and research in tourism studies. A nationally recognized academic, Professor Lagarense has dedicated her career to advancing sustainable tourism, community empowerment, and cultural innovation.

She has led numerous high-impact projects funded by PKM, BRIN, and other national programs—empowering local communities through creative economy initiatives, women’s leadership, and eco-cultural tourism development. Her multidisciplinary expertise includes digital marketing for tourism, hospitality service training, green economy practices, and cultural heritage preservation, making her a sought-after collaborator for tourism villages and stakeholders across North Sulawesi and beyond.

Known for translating academic insights into actionable community change, Professor Lagarense is also a prolific contributor to scientific journals and a mentor to aspiring tourism professionals across Indonesia.
