He is currently the Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Tourism Anthropology, member of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) and the Decision Sciences Institute of USA (DSI), member of Hengduan Mountains Club, Japan, member of Tourism Geography Committee of China Geographical Society, deputy director of Historical Geography Committee of Sichuan Geographical Society, director of Sichuan Tourism Society and deputy director of Academic Committee, Secretary-General of China Beautiful Rural Area Research Center of Sichuan University. He also established International Center for Interdisciplinary  Culture Heritage & Tourism Research, and served as the Chinese director.

His research expertise is mainly tourism sustainable development, cultural and natural heritage development and influence, tourism anthropology, tourism development and evolution under the influence of major events;
