Mekong Tourism Symposium with an Distinguished Expert Panel

Explore the diversity, authenticity and warm hospitality of the mythical Mekong region.

An area of many diverse communities with different histories, cultures, social structures, and landscapes, the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) is one of the central tourist destinations in the world. Comprising Cambodia, China (Yunnan and Guanxi Provinces), Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, the GMS welcomed over 73 million international travelers in 2019 and many more have traveled domestically. Over the past years, the COVID-19 pandemic has particularly impacted the livelihoods and the futures of many people in the GMS, especially those involved in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The restart and recovery of tourism is of utmost importance to build community resilience and wellbeing. Mekong countries are fully reopening their borders to the world.
