Angela Njehia
Angela Njehia with over 18 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of leading strategic tourism planning, destination development, and capacity building initiatives in more than 10 African countries. My work has always focused on building inclusive, resilient, and rights-based tourism ecosystems.
I’m a Co-founder and Director of Tierranjani Africa, a boutique tourism development firm based in Nairobi. I serve on the Executive Board of Ecotourism Kenya – the first ecotourism society in Africa, where I contribute to shaping the future of responsible travel on the continent. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Purple Elephant Ventures – a pioneering venture studio headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, designing and building climate-smart, tourism-focused startups from the ground up.
In 2022, I was humbled to be recognized among Africa’s Top 100 Women in Tourism Leadership, as well as receive the 2022 Pan African Transformational Leadership Award.
As an accredited sustainability coach and auditor, I work with international programs such as Travelife for Tour Operators, Green Destinations, and The Pledge on Food Waste Management. Through these platforms, I support tourism enterprises and destinations to embed sustainability—not as a buzzword, but as a fundamental business value.
Whether I’m collaborating with grassroots communities or engaging on global stages, I always strive to blend strategic thinking with human-centered design to spark meaningful change across the tourism value chain.
