Who is Kitty Pope?
Kitty J. Pope, is a freelance editor and the co- founder and publisher of
AfricanDiasporaTourism.com, an online tourism magazine exploring the cultural heritage of people of African descent worldwide. She is also the creator and, director and producer of the world’s first African Diaspora World Tourism Awards and Travel Expo, recognizing those who have contributed and positively influenced black cultural heritage tourism. The Travel Expo serves to highlight displays of black heritage trails from around the world. She is the associate director of the National Cultural Heritage Tourism Center, Inc.
Pope specializes in marketing and promoting all things, people, places, sites, and events related to the black cultural heritage and tourism, through Africana PR and Promotions and the National Cultural Heritage Tourism Marketing Corp. She works with tour agents, organizations and corporations in promoting tours to Africa and the countries of the Diaspora. She organizes campaigns for targeting the black travel market through social media, websites, affiliates, email and related media sources and organizations. Pope has organized receptions and workshops for tourism and cultural heritage related events. Pope is also the founder and director of the International Association of Black Travel Writers, an organization of over 25 travel writers from around the world. A former magazine editor, social research associate and college counselor, and the author of one book, Pope received a B.A. in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and an M.S. in Agency Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University / Greensboro. She currently resides in Atlanta, Ga. (USA).
