Who is Ahmad Sheikhi?

Ahmad sheikhi, earned his Ph.D. from University of La Laguna (ULL), Spain (2016). Between 2003 to 2012, he worked at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran (MCTH). His areas of research encompass a variety of interests that utilise tourism industry as a cross-disciplinary lens through which to view impact of tourism on local community; with a particular emphasis on gender equality, ethnic tourism, peace through tourism, Inter-religious relations and hostility.

 In addition, he has worked with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)’s Regional Programs for Asia and the Pacific (RPAP), and during his cooperation with UNWTO, had extensive mission with the following projects: UNWTO TSA workshop in Tehran (2015), International ST-EP Organization in Korea, UNWTO Tourism stories Project, Afghanistan’s Tourism issues, 21st Session of the UNWTO General Assembly and UNWTO ěs Asia Pacific Newsletter. Prior to his academic career, Ahmad worked as a freelance tour-guide for more than five years. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences and Planning of University of Isfahan, Iran.
