Who is Sophea Sok?
Ms. Sophea Sok is a sustainable tourism specialist. She has extensive experiences in the tourism sector in Cambodia as well as in the Southeast Asia region for more than 14 years; particularly, in community-based ecotourism development and planning. She has advised many projects and coordinated local teams in different regions of Cambodia, leading a range of projects related to inclusive (eco)tourism development, rural development, poverty reduction, gender equity, cultural and heritage management, environmental conservation, and social entrepreneurship. She has been consecutively in dialogue with various local, national and international stakeholders, including public, private, civil society organizations and ground communities.
More than 3 years as Quality and Standards Expert (Ad-hoc team) at ASEAN Secretariat. Worked at the regional level with the ten Southeast Asia Tourism Ministries, provided coordination and support to ASEAN Member States to strengthen and implement the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professional.
More than 1 year as a Secretary General of PATA Cambodia Chapter (also part of the founders to establish PATA Cambodia Chapter). It was an interesting experience working with a private sector.
More than 1 year working experience with USAID Cambodia MSME funded project in charge of tourism sector, build capacity of tourism stakeholders; especially community, improve the business enabling environment, and enhance business linkage of tourism stakeholders for sustainable development.
More than two years as CCBEN Coordinator. During the time working with Cambodia Community Based Ecotourism Network; I was in charge of multi-sector, networking, office operation, human resources development, and management, delivery of training, financial management, fund-raising, project management, etc.
