Who is Jaffee Yee?
Mr.Jaffee Yee is an independent media and travel consultant and a veteran award-winning publisher.
A Malaysian citizen by birth (born in George Town, Penang), Yee is a permanent resident of Hong Kong and was formerly based in Hong Kong as the regional manager of American publishing and media giants, McGraw-Hill Book Company and CBS International Publishing, (a division of CBS Inc., New
York). He formed Myer Publishing Limited in 1982, launched Asia’s first jewelry
trade magazine, Asian Jewelry and published numerous books in the field of art and culture, jewelry, photography and design. Among them, Hong Kong Graphic Annual won the “Best Design and Printing Award” by the Hong Kong Government. He was a board member of the Society of Hong Kong Publishers which later evolved to become SOPA.
After moving his base to Bangkok in 1984, Yee published his first book Thailand from the Air with hundreds of aerial photographs taken by the late celebrated photographer Luca Tettoni Invernizzi with texts in English and French. In 2011, he launched “Yunnan Mekong Travel”, a bilingual travel magazine in Chinese and English to promote tourism of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). He also edited the map: “The Mekong River: from Source to Sea” published by Odyssey Hong Kong. And in 2013, he successfully launched a premium Chinese travel magazine “NiHao”<你好> followed by “Mekong Business & Travel” in Phnom Penh during PATA Travel Mart September 2014, “Chiang Rai From The Air” in October 2016 and “The BEST of MYANMAR” in December 2017.
Yee had organized four successful art and library conferences in Thailand and Malaysia. These conferences include ASEAN Art Symposium in 2001 and the 8th International Conference for Asian Digital Libraries (8th ICADL 2005) in Bangkok 2005 formally opened by HRH Princess Sirindhorn.
Since 2006, Yee has been the managing director of Knowledge Media Group Thailand. Currently, he is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Beach Travel (www.BeachTravel.online)and the Chairman of PATA Chiang Rai chapter (www.pata.org) also serve as an honorary member of the Mekong Tourism Advisory Group (https://www.destinationmekong.com/mekong-tourismadvisory- group/) Besides having a high command of the English language, he speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Fujian, Thai, Malay/Indonesian and having a good working knowledge of Japanese and Korean.
