Ignatius Sonny Wyarso Ph.D is a historian, an academician and an industry practitioner. He graduated from University of Indonesia (BA in History) and the Australian National University (MA in Asian Studies and Ph.D in History). His field of specialty – 19th century economic history, maritime history and cultural studies for strategic tourism. He is also actively involved in health and tourism industries. As a professional, he has experience in several top executive positions in companies both national and international, notably as a Senior Strategic Development Manager Barrett Associates Melbourne; Research and Development Director Vain Consultancy Group Melbourne; Executive Director at Bhakti Rahayu Hospital Denpasar; General Manager Tripper International – Oxnard California; Senior Vice President Manu Waluya Public Health Denpasar; Corporate General Manager for Raditya Hospitality Group Denpasar; and recently as a Director for Research, Development and Partnership for Bali Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

He is also a consultant for VECO Indonesia; WISATA SwissContact; Advocacy Group for Bali AIDS Commission; Conservation International; and as a Senior Adviser for Precious Island Indonesia.

He was a lecturer at History Department, Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia; a lecturer on Culture and Health at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Wira Medika Denpasar; and currently as a visiting senior fellow at Post Graduate Program Bali Tourism Polytechnic. He is also active as a speaker in both national and international seminars and conferences.
